Getting there

How to get to the towers of Notre-Dame

Métro, RER and the walk to the right entrance — the tower door isn't the cathedral door.

By métro

Cité (line 4) is the closest stop, right on the Île de la Cité itself. Saint-Michel (also line 4) is a short walk away across the river, on the Left Bank side.

By RER

RER lines B and C both stop at Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame, a couple of minutes' walk from the cathedral. RER B runs direct from Charles de Gaulle airport, so it's a convenient option on arrival day.

On foot across the island

The Île de la Cité is small and entirely walkable. From either métro stop, it's a few minutes on foot along the riverside quays or across the square in front of the cathedral.

Find the right door

The tower entrance is at the foot of the south tower, to the right as you face the cathedral's west front, separate from the cathedral's own entrance. If you're booked for a climb, head there rather than joining the cathedral queue by mistake.
